On your Wedding day fit is important….
So, before you purchase a
gown always measure yourself (it's better to have help with this) with a clothiers measuring tape (around the
fullest part of the bust, the curve of the waist – above the belly
button and below the last rib, and around the fullest part of the hips
and buttocks) or have a bridal shop do it for you, and if you are 5’9″
or taller you’ll need to consider that most gowns are made a standard
5’8″ length. Also, most wedding apparel is not sized per regular
standards, every company has different size charts. Example, if you are
a current size 12 in jeans, a size 12 dress will not usually fit as
they run small…And if the dress is chiffon or another sheer material,
there is no seam allowance to let it out if it needs altered, however if
it is a common color – candlelite ivory, or white, it can usually have
material, or corsetting added to make it larger. The good news is that
if you order a dress a size larger than you think you need (per your
measurements) in chiffon your chances of it fitting or being able to be
altered/taken in are better. If it is a satin gown it can usually be
altered out up to 2 sizes bigger or taken in as much as needed depending
on it’s beading and details. Remember, this is just a guide to help you
make a more informed decision before your purchase as many sales on the
internet and in store are final and non-refundable as many aren't made until you order and are based on Your measurements...
Feel free to use the chart provided below to get a base measurement before ordering...however remember all manufacturers do no use the same size charts for their dresses, always check their sites when ordering.
